How does sound amplification work?
HearBoost uses your device's microphone to capture surrounding sounds and amplifies them in real time through your headphones or earbuds. The audio is processed entirely on your device -- nothing is recorded or sent anywhere. Simply plug in your headphones, open HearBoost, and tap the amplification button to start.
Does HearBoost work with AirPods?
Yes. HearBoost works with AirPods, AirPods Pro, AirPods Max, and any other Bluetooth headphones or wired earphones connected to your device. For the best experience, we recommend AirPods Pro or other earbuds with good noise isolation, as they help reduce feedback.
How accurate is the hearing test?
The hearing test in HearBoost provides a reliable estimate of your hearing ability across different frequencies. It is designed to help personalize your amplification settings. However, it is not a clinical audiological evaluation. For a comprehensive hearing assessment, we recommend visiting a licensed audiologist.
How do I adjust amplification settings?
On the main amplification screen, use the sliders to adjust overall volume and frequency-specific amplification (bass, mid, treble). If you have completed a hearing test, HearBoost will automatically suggest a personalized profile. You can fine-tune these settings at any time and save multiple profiles for different environments.
What is included in the lifetime purchase?
HearBoost is a one-time purchase that gives you permanent access to all features, including sound amplification, hearing tests, custom profiles, and all future updates. There are no subscriptions or recurring charges. Once you buy it, it is yours for life.
How do I get a refund?
Refunds are processed by Apple, not by us directly. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find HearBoost in your purchase history, and submit a refund request. Apple will review your request according to their refund policy.
Is my audio data recorded or stored?
No. HearBoost processes audio in real time on your device. No audio is ever recorded, stored, or transmitted to any server. When you stop amplification, the audio data is immediately discarded.
Can HearBoost replace a hearing aid?
HearBoost is a personal sound amplification product (PSAP) and is not intended to replace professionally prescribed hearing aids. If you have diagnosed hearing loss, please consult with a licensed audiologist about the best solution for your needs. HearBoost can be a helpful supplemental tool for everyday situations.
The sound has feedback or echoing. What should I do?
Feedback usually occurs when your microphone picks up sound from your speakers. Try these steps: (1) Use earbuds or in-ear headphones instead of over-ear headphones. (2) Lower the amplification volume. (3) Move the device farther from your earphones. (4) Make sure your headphone volume is at a moderate level.
